Combining creative design with technical process.
The Flametree Creative team have a particular interest in, and love of, designing books and book covers. Over the course of more than 30 years, they have produced hundreds of titles, encompassing a huge range of genres, and multiple clients, including the Fremantle Press and UWA Press. They know how to avoid pitfalls and ensure your book publication is a smooth and rewarding experience.
Our skills as book designers have been nationally recognised, having won numerous national book design awards across a range of publications. We offer book cover design and print design in our Cottesloe studio. The nature of this work necessitates methodical organisational skills and proficiency in desktop publishing. We have an understanding of all the components of book publishing - writing, editing, illustration, proof reading, indexing, design layout and artwork. We are happy to help in any or all of these areas to successfully see a project through to completion.

Far West 40 years
Everyone loves a “battler who beats the odds” story & this is one.
We recently had the privilege of telling this particular story graphically in the form of a commemorative booklet for our client Far West Scallops celebrating their 40th anniversary as W.A’s leading wild sustainable scallop fishers.
Riding the Wave
Flametree was approached to produce a centenary book for the Hyden Progress Association.
'Our Art, Our Culture, Our Way'
'Our Art, Our Culture, Our Way' documents five years of Kepa Kurl Community Arts Programs.
'Sharing culture through the arts is reconciliation and healing for everyone, the arts being the best medium of educating the wider community about our culture'.
Jennell Reynolds, Aboriginal Arts Coordinator.
'The BooBook'
The BooBook is the latest children's book by author, illustrator and publisher Wend Binks. It is a beautifully rich story written by Jennifer Mars, about the interaction of a boy and a boo-book owl. Set high in the treetops, the story takes us on a fantastic adventure with an environmental twist.
From concept to print, and more!
We design books and book covers from original conceptual ideas and are involved all the way through to the final print process.
Throughout the process of designing your book, we take great care to ensure we are preparing it for printing and reproduction to the highest quality and standards. Making sure your book is prepared properly for the printer is a big part of the job. We’ll make sure your files are prepared and ready for press, as well as following all the necessary guidelines the printer may provide.
With more than 30 years' experience in the Australian book design and print industry, we can offer valuable advice in choosing printing and binding techniques, paper types, removable posters, glued-in pockets and much, much more.
