Rockingham Beach Cup
The Rockingham Beach Cup came about as an idea formed by the local Rockingham collective tasked with attracting more people to the seaside town and showing off its new multi million dollar foreshore redevelopment.
They decided to host a weekend beachfront festival culminating in a mini Melbourne Cup on the Sunday featuring one of the world's only beach horse races complete with commentators, horses and colourful silk clad jockeys who generously donate their time for the benefit of the community and Rotary, Variety WA and Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
The horses thunder down the flat hard white sand track right beside the shallow turquoise water in front of crowds lining the parklands and shore while pleasure boats provide a seaward perimeter.
It was designed to be a gala event complete with fashion parades, corporate hospitality, food vans, local craft and goods, rides, fun for the kids and public entertainment in the free access areas.
The Brief
Flametree was engaged to produce a suitable brand and all the marketing collateral to launch and promote the event, including designing a massive entry statement.
As the centrepiece we created a logo that embraced the spirit and movement of the event with a strong reference to the horse racing aspect.
The result is a memorable, enduring brand mark that has found its way onto print, signage, merchandise, media and many other related applications, serving it’s purpose well.
After a year’s hiatus due to COVID restrictions the RockinghamCup was back bigger and better last weekend boasting the biggest attendance of any event in Rockingham history.
As a community project we are proud to have been selected to brand and help promote such a worthwhile event.
We hope the brand will continue to flourish and grow, becoming a permanent part of the WA calendar and forming positive memories in the minds of the Rockingham community and wider event participants.
